Let me begin with a story.
A Rolls Royce was speeding on a highway when all of a sudden a brick was thrown at the car from the side. The door of the Rolls Royce got badly hit. Naturally the driver was fuming when he reversed back to the place where the now fallen brick lay. Jumping out with words beyond his control streaming out of his mouth, he saw a boy standing on the sidewalk, shaking. The driver lashed the boy for doing what he did and said "Don't you know how much damage you have done to my expensive car?"
The boy replied in an apologizing and respectful manner "Sorry sir. I had no choice. Cars before you refused to stop. My brother who is wheel chair bound has fallen from his chair and I am not strong enough to lift him back onto the chair. Can you help me please sir?"
The Rolls Royce owner was shocked and moved by the child's plight. Trembling with emotion, the man rushed to the place where the brother had fallen, lifted him up and placed him in the wheel chair. He noticed that his hand was bleeding. Not thinking twice, he used his expensive handkerchief to stop the bleeding.
The small boy thanked him profusely and started pushing his brother to their house which was just round the corner.
This my friends is OUR WAKE UP CALL
When we thought we were all powerful, and did exactly as we pleased,
When we treated Earth with contempt, a virus brought us to our knees.
When we prided ourselves on social media with photos of places we have roamed,
A microscopic virus decided to bind our feet and keep us at home.
When the whole world seemed divided and couldn't see eye eye,
We needed a tiny virus to show where our connections lie.
We need to wash NOT just our hands,
We need to CLEANSE our thoughts.
We need to ELEVATE humanity,
Before the virus is fought.....
In today's situation the world over:
The small boy represents God. The fallen brother, our Earth, the brick - OUR WAKE UP CALL.
Let us at least now wake up from our slumber. Let us stop looting Mother Nature. Let us start respecting Nature so that She will respect us also.
